Garment Technologist & Quality Controller The Role As an Established Garment Technologist, specialising in Denim and knitwear, you’ll act as a member of the Red Ox Technical team, working closely with the design and buying departments to assure the fit and quality of our product along with its technical capabilities from first sample through to delivery.

The role reports into the Head of buying Technical but works in an autonomous way, so it requires a self-motivator who can take ownership of their responsibilities and lead a team. You will work collaboratively with the Buying, Design, Digital and Fabric teams in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment, so it’s essential that you have strong technical experience, combined with great organizational and analytical skills, and the ability to effectively prioritize a busy workload.

The Garment Technologist will be responsible for ensuring a consistent fit throughout our collection and strive to elevate and constantly evaluate the quality of our product and improve the fit of the garment.

Key responsibilities include:

Job Responsibilities

Creating rough-draft templates using computer drafting software and freehand techniques.
Measuring, cutting, and designing patterns in the material required & sending the initial pattern for a manufacture check.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and design models & proficient with computer drafting software including CAD.
Experience with measuring, snipping, milling, and cutting tools & detail oriented.
Physically fit and able to stand for long periods & prepare and develop patterns independently.
Verify & check patterns, buyer comments to ensure the accuracy of the measurements of garments.

Ensure cost reduction by achieving optimum efficiency of CAD and making 100% accurate markers.
Regular follow-up with sampling, photo samples, size sets, fit samples and production samples also examine sketches, sample articles, and design specifications to determine quantities, shapes, and sizes of pattern parts, and to determine the amount of material or fabric required to make a product.
Provide instructions to factories on pattern making/ grading, garment construction and sewing operations and find alternatives & monitor fit, measurements and workmanship according to the customer requirements, from Development to Production.
Evaluate the sample for fit, proportion, silhouette, seam positions and other design features and subsequently make the necessary rectifications whilst consulting the sample room manager in the event of complications.
